Well I have vowed to blog every day of the school holidays, although I can't remember if I said that doesn't include weekends or holidays! So just got back from Majorca, stayed in Alcudia which I can thoroughly recommend for families with children. The beach has lovely soft sand and the sea is so shallow and goes out for ages so the little ones can frolic in the water without you worrying.
We had an amazing time, the downside, as my other half pointed out yesterday is that we had 0 minutes sunbathing : ( Now I'm not a huge sunbather, mainly due to my milk bottle pallour I look a little like this in the morning:
But I LOVE the heat, I am always cold so to be wandering around in a bikini all day means it HAD to be hot and it was, I think it was about 35 degrees every day. Lovely, as long as I have my hat and sunnies I'm ok, other wise I wilt like a flower!
So not much sunbathing as having an excitable 18 month old meant one of us always had to be on duty as she is QUICK at running. She loved the sand and was marginally impressed by the sea. As I mentioned in my post about family holidays, it meant eating out was a bit tricky, as it either had to be at 5.30pm (not great when you're in Spain) or at a normal hour such as 8ish but with a whining child. Consequently the most relaxing evening we had was when we stayed in the apartment, put Heidi to bed at normal time 7pm, sat on the balcony drinking Malibu and coke (took me back to Tenerife days girlie holiday) eating pistachios and olives then a bit of home cooked spag bol!! Much more relaxing than trying to go out and walk 7 times round the block with the buggy trying to get a certain someone off to sleep. Anyway I'm trying not to complain about the holiday, just highlighting interesting points that occur with a child! As we had a lovely time and I'd give anything to be out there for the whole summer. Thoroughly recommend Alcudia.
So the good news is the save the date cards are ready, the bad news I don't have the car so cannot go and pick them up!! Lots of things on the 'To Do' list today:
Have already done the online shopping
Go to the post office
Sort out car insurance urghh
Take shirts in to be ironed (I cannot abide ironing)
Print some photos of Heidi from hols
Begin some school work (the anxiety is really kicking in now - I'm scared)
Favourite today is going to be favourite ever holiday: This has to be a week in Turkey when Dan and I had first started going out, we had planned to go to Kefalonia but the travel agent informed us days before we were about to fly that there would be building works from 8am-6pm next door - did we still want to go? Errr No thanks. With difficulty (I remember it was September 11 2001!) they found us an alternative holiday to Turkey, which we were both a bit unsure of but turned out to be the best holiday we've been on!!
