First of alll, I realised I never commented about my date night. I have vowed to try and blog everyday during the summer hols (except weekends - and when technology let's me down) and therefore never updated on my date night - note - Myleene Klass had one with her other half I discovered via Twitter yesterday!
I can thoroughly recommend The Clapham Picture House cinema. It was actually like a bar inside, had a great atmosphere and you could take your drinks into the cinema in real glasses (PCness hasn't gone mad everywhere!). I enjoyed Harry Potter the final instalment, although as a friend pointed out it wasn't really meant to be in 3D so I kind of expected everything to be jumping out at me and it wasn't, though the film was good. We ate in a little gastro type pub called the Bobbin in Clapham old town, which I had never been to (the old town that is) and I thought it was like going back in time, classic London with lovely little cottages and terraced houses with little flowers in the gardens - quaint. Shame I had to drive round the south circular and some horrendous estates to get there....
Next, I'm waiting in for a delivery which is why I thought I'd blog again today. I wasn't going to as Sunday night was going to count for my Monday one but seeing as Heidi is asleep and I'm stuck in waiting for something I thought I'd offload my waffle AND I've finally cleaned those f*cking spice cupboards so don't worry you don't have to read it on my 'to do' list anymore! I'm actually quite surprised how blogging has enabled me to become a bit more proactive. Because I feel the need to comment on things, it is making me actually do more.
Anyway, detox and Dukan diets - this has come about as, if you read my family holday blog, I was starting to feel a bit minging after all the food I'd eaten while being in Dorset. Cue me coming home and buying loads of overpriced fruit in Waitrose and making a fruit salad which I have eaten 3 times - which is not bad for me as I really cannot make myself eat fruit, it's so boring. So I thought, with all the furore surrounding the Duchess of Cambridge aka Kate (I also just have to comment on the irritation caused to me by the way the press is now calling her Catherine because she has married Wills, when for the past 5 years she has been Kate?? Why??) supposedly following the Dukan diet and losing all that weight (Dukan diet or not I personally think she lost that due to stress) - I thought I'd do a bit of research.
Now from my piddling amount of google searches I think it is a no carb diet. Nothing new there, although there is a bit more to it than that e.g. no carbs and just protein until you hit your target weight, then you gradually reintroduce things. At first glance I think it sounds alright. I thought about what I eat and thought, well, I don't really eat a lot of carbs anyway, apart from bread, pasta and potatoes my 3 main food groups!! But what I found weird is that during the attack phase you eat only protein but nothing else not even fruit and veg? Most diets say you can eat as much fruit and veg as you want? The way they explain it works I think is probably true, but then it starts talking about ketosis. This is state your body goes into when it has no carbs to use for energy so its starts burning your fat. Great - until I seem to remember a family friend who is a doctor telling my other half he was going into ketosis when he was really ill and couldn't eat and it kind of sounds a bit like your body is eating itself?!
I would like to try the Dukan but I actually don't think I have enough will power unless I was living on my own with no influences from anyone - i.e. who wants to subject their other half to the bad breath you apparently get?! But anyone who has tried it please let me know. The age old adage is obviously 'eat less exercise more' - I am doing the former but that brings me onto a whole other kettle of fish - THE GYM.
This is really hard when you have a little one. But you're on school holidays I hear you cry, you've got sooo much spare time. True and actually I probably could make up a whole lot of excuses as to why I haven't been to the gym since I have been on hols - the main one being I want to spend the precious time with my daughter, but I'm not going to go there. I havent been to the gym because I haven't had the incliniation or will power!
Things to do today: Pick up some shirts, get my bloody save the date card mock up and possibly all of them printed, I suppose the next boring thing is to clean the fridge!
PS Have started packing for Majorca (mainly heidi's stuff not mine!) so that I can work out what I need to buy!! For me it is 2 maxi dresses, for Heidi some more shorts.
Favourite: I meant to do this ages ago - Amy Winehouse song 'Tears Dry on Their Own'.
