Italian Weddings and Plum Crumble

This morning I have already put away washing, put more washing on, emptied dishwasher, loaded dishwasher, unpacked shopping delivery, along with usual Heidi duty and PAID THE DEPOSIT FOR OUR ITALIAN WEDDING! ('what do you want a medal?', says other half - no but, well yes actually!!)

Yay it's official, well actually not quite as I don't think it has arrived in the wedding planners account yet but it's as close to being as official as can be!! I'm on a bit of a tight schedule today as going to Godstone Farm to meet an old school friend and her boys at 2pm so not sure if I can get to the printers after Heidi's nap and on the way or not.  These things are sent to try us, knowing my luck something will put a spanner in the works but hey, some lucky people might be receiving THE save the date invite of the year very soon.  Goal is to get them sent before we go on holiday on Sunday?? Is that achieveable?....

So, the wedding is in a beautiful little medieval village called Artimino in Tuscany.  There are some lovely apartments with a pool in the village for some guests to stay in and a hotel next to the amazing villa.  We are actually getting married in the gardens - it looks so amazing, really dramatic and makes me think of the olden days and what would have gone on in the villa many years ago.  The rooms are huge, grand ball rooms so probably old fashioned dances - although I am basing this on my love of English period dramas - who knows if they did that sort of thing in Italy then?

We are having approximately 100 guests and everyone will be staying on site in this lovely village so once you arrive you don't have to worry about getting anywhere.  Before I'd found our wedding venue I wasn't fussed about all tthe razzamatazz that goes with weddings like flowers, string quartets, favours, veils, speeches etc etc.   I absolutely do not want any tradition and we are not having a religious service.  I just wanted a really simple wedding and a party.  However, when I saw the dream venue I just started thinking 'ooohh I want flowers everywhere' and when the wedding planner mentioned fireworks, the little girl inside me went 'Yeah!'.  When I found out the fireworks were £2500 for five minutes I came back to reality.  I do still want it to be simple and not traditional in any way but I have changed my mind about the flowers, in that I want loads!!  I also originally wanted cerise gerberas as they are my favourite, but when I saw the venue I thought cream and pale pink would suit it better.  I am not really totally hung up on a colour scheme, I think I'll just go shopping with my bridesmaids nearer the time and see what they want.
The groom is going very anti traditional with his outfit and it's sounds wicked - I won't spoil the surprise!

As for th dress, I have an idea in my head what I want but haven't actually seen it anywhere yet.  That's a whole other story I guess and it's far too early to start looking for dresses!!

To do list: Make a plum crumble with the plums Dan's mum gave me!!
Print save the dates - I WILL get this done this week!
I can't remember what yesterday's ones were but I am feeling today will be productive.

Favourite: Celebrity wedding - I was going to wedding but the best photo has to be Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt they looked so happy and then bloody Angelina came along grrrr
